Bio in brief...
My career in the federal government was spent at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At CDC, I trained as an EIS officer, and worked as an epidemiologist tracking outbreaks of tickborne rickettsial diseases, rabies, Q fever, and other zoonoses. I have worked extensively in global public health, and specialized in leading large, complex outbreak responses as part of CDC’s Emergency Response team. I also trained with CDC’s Public Affairs and served as a primary spokesperson for media, government, and partners on behalf of the agency. Since retiring from federal service, I have discovered a new passion working in shelter medicine and working to expand spectrum of veterinary care options for low-income communities. I am an emeritus member of the National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians, and an active member of AVMA and ACVPM.
