Bio in brief...
At present, I am working as a veterinary medical officer on the Swine Health team in the Aquaculture, Swine, Equine, and Poultry Health Center, in Strategy and Policy within Veterinary Services for the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services. My primary responsibilities focus on preparedness and response planning for African swine fever and influenza, though I support the Equine team as needed.
Prior to joining APHIS, and following veterinary school graduation, I worked in small animal general practice, then began a post-doc fellowship at CDC in the One Health Office. In 2022, I joined CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) with the CDC Division of Vector-Borne Diseases’ Rickettsial Zoonoses Diseases Branch (RZB). During EIS, I worked on various epidemiologic investigations, including investigation of a non-native rabies variant in a kitten, Cache Valley virus in a sheep farm, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever on tribal lands in the American Southwest and in Northern Mexico. Following EIS, I served as veterinary medical officer with the same branch, Rickettsial Zoonoses, focusing on Rocky Mountain spotted fever prevention, alpha-gal syndrome, and other tickborne disease epidemiology and surveillance activities.
