Tierra Price, DVM, MPH
Tierra Price is a 2020 DVM / MPH graduate of VMCVM and founder of the BlackDVM Network. Price originally wanted to become a shelter veterinarian after volunteering at a local shelter when she was 12 years old. During her undergraduate career, she became interested in food safety and security. She tracked Public/Corporate at VMCVM and explored careers with the USDA.
After graduation, Price accepted a position at the ASPCA in Los Angeles as a Community Veterinarian in the field she originally wanted to pursue. Her work focused primarily on spay and neuter surgery, but she also saw appointments for underserved communities or community animals that would not have received care otherwise. Price found this work to be very rewarding, as she was able to provide care to patients that had been left untreated and see them through to a full recovery.
Price recently accepted a position with Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG), where she will work in emergency and critical care. This career path allows her flexibility to continue doing what she loves: relief work through shelter medicine and connecting Black veterinary professionals.
