Dr. Carla Savage joins the CPCVM faculty!

We’re excited to share with you that over the summer, we added a new faculty member to the Center for Public and Corporate Veterinary Medicine!  Dr. Carla Savage joined us on August 1.

Dr. Savage comes to us from the University of the West Indies (UWI) where she was a tenured Lecturer. She was a marine mammal/aquatic animal clinician and diagnostician and led their Aquatic Program. She also has experience with large and small animal surgery and medicine.  She has been involved in both academic and international policy development work.

She received her DVM and MPhil in Food Animal Medicine from the UWI and her PhD from University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine in aquatic animal health. She also completed a postgraduate certificate in university teaching and learning at UWI.

Her research is in One Health and aquatic animal health. In 2021, she received the Anthony N. Sabga Caribbean Award for Excellence: 2021 Laureate, Science and Technology: Demonstrated excellence and pioneering efforts in the field of Aquatic Animal Medicine and Aquatic One Health in the Caribbean region.

We are thrilled that she is with us.  She’s got a great background in both veterinary medicine and academia and an absolutely delightful personality.
